this unreal woodland wedding had so many little moments that I wanted to share with you all...so if you're a reader and not a scroller of this blog - indulge me in a few memories from the day... ;)if you follow me on Pinterest, you'll notice my pin-board called "it's all in the details",yes, I'm already married ;) but in photographing so many weddings and especially today's wedding,I've come to the conclusion that no matter if your budget is $50,000 or $5,000...the thing or things that will set your day apart from all the other weddings is literally ALL in the details.the details can be extravagant in some weddings...but honestly they don't have to be.when done right...it's a little thoughtful touch that makes you sigh and go "awwwe."I LOVE weddings like today's wedding that was styled and detailed to fit it's high-in-the-mountains-heart-felt vibe.this couple and family completely understood that details matter and in that knowledge, made their day something that brides will now look to for beautiful mountain woodland inspiration!when elizabeth and I drove up...***side story and a glimpse into elizabeth and I's working relationship about that "drive up"***in photographing weddings, elizabeth and I have seen some pretty amazing and out-of the waydestination weddings throughout colorado, arizona, illinois + california(side note + plug - if you're in Italy, we'd LOVE to add that to our list of amazing destination weddings!) ;)it's not a surprise to have to drive a few hours to get to remoteand beautiful destinations that our brides and groom see the beauty in.for this wedding, we enjoyed the winding dirt trail that led us up to the top of the mountain next to lake george in colorado.that dirt road eventually led us to the front gate of our destination at La Dolce Vita...the views were simply beautiful.at the front of the entrance was a sign that said speed limit 35 miles per hour and had a curvy arrow letting us know that there would be switchbacks in order to arrive at our destination.no big deal, right?um, no...I'm still laughing at the next part.there was another beautiful wooden thoughtful sign to the right of the road that said park here due to rough terrain...the bride + groom had arranged a 4WD truck to shuttle their guests in to their beautiful and very remote location where the ceremony and photographs were to be held.elizabeth and I scoffed at that as her car is a colorado 4WD vehicle andneither of us are strangers to what we thought was "rough terrain".so, we started down the mountain.*note to anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation...if there is a sign that says park here, park there.* ;)about half way down the switchbacks NOT going 35MPH but more like 2MPH,we found ourselves with tears streaming down our eyes from laughing so hard at our "city slicker" shockat what a mountain road actually looks and feels like and found ourselves feeling very much a smidge in over our heads, with those laughter-tear-filled-eyes at our ridiculousness,I had a vision of Thelma + Louise and them going over the edge of the cliff...somehow the vision fit. 100% fit. ;)we're obviously fine, didn't get stuck or roll off a cliff...but man, it was a seriously funny moment in getting to work with my sister. :)I will say that that short drive down the mountain was 100% worth it.their remote hunting property was the perfect backdrop to their woodland wedding.we were met with aspen tree's lining a small clearing on the side of the mountain...with an adorable red rustic hunting cabin and small pond in the distance.her dad had handcrafted six long wooden benches that he had carved and fashioned into beautiful seating for their gueststhat was perfectly framed by the clearing in the aspens.a tall aspen alter had been crafted together and beautiful flowing moss cascaded over the edges of the alter creatingan almost mid-summers night effect.off to the side was their baby Goldenrain Tree that would later serve as their unity tree...mason jars filled with their childhood homes dirt would be placed on the roots of their tree signifying their unity together.past the ceremony site, past the large open meadow, was a long pine tree lined picturesque road that led to an even larger pond.the clouds were dramatic in the distance and reflected perfectly in the pond...this was where Jessy + Mikayla were to have their first look.the last memory I'll share with you of this day is of their "ring bearer" and "flower girl".or rather, Scamp + Halo, their two adorable dogs.sometimes it can be a challenge to have animals be a part of a wedding ceremony...not these two dogs.it was abundantly clear they knew who the alpha was in Jessy and that the two dogs a.d.o.r.e.d. their masters.they thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and entertaining the guests as they arrived, and at the perfect point in the ceremony, the two of them raced down to their owners to deliver their rings that had been carefully tied around their necks.it literally was the definition of adorable.yes, I completely enjoyed Jessy + Mikayla's day...I loved the thought and heart that went into every detail of their day...it genuinely was the most perfect woodland mountain wedding.congratulations again, Jessy + Mikayla!
