best of 2016 | weddings
narrowing down to say BEST of 2016 was a most difficult task.when brides and grooms put so much love and detail into their days, it's hard not to fall in love and declare everything as best!but I will say that in my opinion the theme of 2016 throughout each unique wedding I got to photograph(whether my own clients or 2nd shooting for my amazingly talented sister out in colorado)was the massive and beautiful attention to unique detail.and not just replica's of "oh, I saw that on pinterest" trend, but actual heartfelt details that spoke of memory and intent and story.grandmother's brooches included in bouquets, grandfather's handkerchiefs tucked in anticipation of tears, hand carved cake stands from tree's in childhood forests, intricate lace dress details hand stitched and customized with care, floral stems chosen that the bride grew up with walking the path near her childhood home, cinnamon roll "cakes" because the bride and groom preferred their local breakfast bakery in lieu of traditional cake, taco food trucks for dinner because it suited the fun-spirited palates of the couple, even inviting musicians that are masters at their craft and who brides and grooms have enjoyed dancingpreviously to their weddings to serenade their guests instead of a dj.and my personal favorite - handwritten thank you notes...I am always astonished at the thoughtfulness and love that many of our couples show us!yes, attention to meaningful detail was a most pleasant theme throughout this past yearand was a joy to photograph because it allowed elizabeth and I a deeper + more intimate look into each couples unique love story.which in the end is our ultimate goal...to visually tell your story that allows your unique and meaningful memories and emotions to last well beyond that first incredible day.thank you to all the couples and families that invited us in to your beautifully detailed stories...it truly was a pleasure!
