God is my Audience.
I couldn't sleep last night.the people-pleaser in me was restless.thankfully my husband chose to be patient with me and tried to help untangle the yarn ball of thoughtsthat wouldn't leave me alone.the question:"how do you genuinely LET GO of people's thoughts, disappointments and expectations for you?"my husband's answer:"who are you doing things for? you?! jen, when you think about it, people-pleasing is just another way of loving yourself... you don't have the ability to say no as a people-pleaser so rather than doing the hard, the not pleasing, you cave and stress out and then resent the very person you are trying to people-please to. the stress is there because it's not right...there is no joy to be found in empty people-pleasing... there is joy in service, but the world mixes up people pleasing with serving. serving refines, serving grows, serving reflects the One who designed it. people-pleasing is empty and full of us. no, jen. God is your audience. He is who you have to answer to. don't compare yourself to others...don't even take the time to look and measure what others are doing. who did He design you to be? what did He design you to do? then do that. focus on that. not what others are designed to do. and not on what doesn't matter. learn to let go of those who want and see things differently. that's okay that they do, but you don't need to feel bad that you don't see eye to eye with them. be okay with a simple kind smile and a gentle no. God is your audience. do and be what pleases Him."I am thankful for my husband and the gift that He is to me.and today I am finding peace and purpose in John 3:30.
