three things I'd love to communicate thinking back on this beautiful silverthorn colorado wedding I assisted my sister - elizabeth ann photography - with:

1. like most of these weddings that I assist my freakishly talented sister with, I typically only show up on the day of the wedding. I haven't sat with these people over coffee dreaming out loud about how to create + make the most photographic memorable wedding happen. BUT (and a huge but at that), no matter if I'm showing up the day of to assist or taking the lead for the day, when I pick up my camera the day of your wedding day and sling on my hold-fast camera halter, it's go-time and I'm ready to give 120% the entirety of your wedding day. for the hours I'm celebrating (yes, celebrating - it's your freaking wedding day!) alongside your family and friends, my goal is not only to create poignant, thoughtful + creative images, but also to help as best I can in making your wedding day carefree and fun. I completely believe that memorable wedding days can start the echo to an even greater memorable marriage - and that belief is the heart and motivation behind my portraits. to help create that carefree + fun memorable wedding day - you have to know that it takes a village. :) so alongside your family + friends on your wedding day, I'm take on the role of photographer/dress fluffer/quasi-coordinator/driving-direction-giver/make-up checker/errand runner/family communicator + sometimes diffuser ;)...whatever you need, I'm there for you. for the last ten years I've loved getting to do that for not only my clients, but my talented sister's as well and plan to continue as many years as I can...I. LOVE. getting. to. do. this.

2. if I could go back and have the opportunity to visually do my wedding all over again (because who doesn't day-dream about that - thank you pinterest) I think I'd like to try and re-create something like teddy + natalie's day. driving up to natalie's parents cabin literally took elizabeth + I's breath away. one, because of the high colorado elevation ;) but also two, the vast amount of land that their cabin was situated on in the silverthorn mountains was absolutely visually incredible. PLUS, it was almost time for fall (my favorite season) so that crisp chill was just starting and the leaves were just beginning to change throughout the forest of aspen trees that surrounded where their cabin was designed. it was absolutely stunning. allowing the landscape to simply show off and then adding in the natural architecture-like details that natalie excels in (yes, she comes from a long line of talented architects in this family) made this day one of my most favorite visually. oh, and her needle and thread gown...I was obsessed with the detailing on her dress and if I ever get to re-plan a wedding - a dress from them would most likely be a major part of the plan. :)

3. I think the thing I loved the most about this day was actually natalie. she orchestrated and crafted this day FOR her guests. and in doing so, it allowed her to enjoy the day fully seeing her loved ones enjoy themselves as much as literally everyone in attendance did...including me. from the scenic overlooks she wanted to visually share, to the incredible music by wildermiss that she + her soon-to-be-hubby loved listening to, to the incredible hand-crafted food and wine they provided, to caring for her guests all the way to the end of the evening taking care to realize that there were no rental houses or hotels anywhere nearby her parents cabin - so she provided the opportunity for her guests to share in a glamping experience with them provided by Shelter Co. natalie, with the help of bello and blue, created the most seamless, thoughtful wedding experience for her loved ones that in turn provided natalie with one of the most loving + memorable weekends of her life. it was absolutely incredible to get to watch unfold and to photograph.
