if you've met me, it's not really a big secret that people (in general) light me up...when I take those personality tests (if you haven't taken one, I highly recommend them...it's good insight to how you tick)I always end up getting ENFP...which for part of that personality...it means I'm curious, enthusiastic and friendly...but it also means that sometimes, it's really hard for me to focus and not get distracted by whats right in front of me...what am I distracted by?  well, typically you if I've got a camera in my hand. ;)it's why I've had my "little red book" since session one back in 2007.just what is my "little red book", you ask?it's just that...my little red book. :)below is not the original little red book...there have actually been six of them...but you get the idea :)I typically have a meeting with every single one of my clients before I meet them...it allows me to interact and talk about what they're anticipating from their session andtalk about what we can creatively collaborate on for their session trying to make each session unique to each client...thus the little red book...remember that distracted personality test character trait?early on in my career, I found that if I only showed up with my creativity and a camera,I ended up getting easily distracted at sessions...not by my surroundings - nope they inspire, not by my interacting with my clients - again, inspiration...I found myself getting distracted with YOU...and I blame you all, really. ;)your eyes are fascinating...the way wind blows your hair across your cheek, guys, the way your jaw clenches and creates a small shadow on the edge of your jawline, you see...there is so many awesome things about each of you to pay attention tothat I found that my distraction needed a little direction...enter in the little red book.I spend about 30 minutes before each and every session simply being quiet and visualizing you + my time photographing you.I take into consideration all that you've said interests you in a session from our previous meeting, and then add in my own creativity and how I want to photograph you...and then the magic of the little red book happens:I draw the session out in full on stick-figure mode with little chicken scratch notes just for me.at this point, I think we're all in agreement that I'm crazy...but hey, it works! :)ha! I don't walk around with it at a session...but I do refer to it just enough to make sure I'm getting the pre-visualized thoughts before I end each and every session.enter in today's beeeeeeeeeeyond beautiful couple...I could have easily walked into their session flying by the seat of my pants creatively...literally just standing still looking relaxed at the camera at me...they look like models.  seriously. :)but I knew from their first meeting that Heather's incredibly blue eyes and full-should-be-in-a-pantene-commercial-haircombined with anthony's genes and insane resemblance to eric bana from troy were going to be a beautiful distraction.at their client meeting, they were incredibly trusting in my creativity and professionalism...and to be honest?when clients say that to me...the pressure I put on myself to really bring that creativity/professionalism goes into overdrive...I don't take that trust lightly.  ever.and the results from their session...gosh, they were fun and again, beyond beautiful to photograph!true Phoenicians with class + effortless style for days...I simply CANNOT wait until November to get to photograph them saying I do!
