observation:you can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat their parents.let me explain...I've had the pleasure of getting to photograph a lot of high school students this past (almost) decade.and I love it.but very much like my dad says "you don't need all kinds, but you get all kinds."meaning, not everyone you meet is going to be your favorite person in the world...there are over 7 billion people in the world - it's bound to happen. ;)in photographing all of these graduates...I meet a lot of parents.and in meeting these parents at sessions, I get a front seat towards how some of these graduates interact with them.I'll say it again...you can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat their parents...good or bad, you just can.this girl?this girl makes me smile. :)I've gotten to photograph her a bit these past three years and I look forward to my sessions with her each time.she's unique.yes, she is beautiful...beautiful blonde hairs and crazy cool eyes...but her unique-ness is not in her looks per se...yes, she is funny + witty...I love when both of her parents are around at her session...she and her dad sometimes team up and tease her mom mercilessly - to the point where I can't help but smile...it's in good fun and cute to watch...but that's not it either, but it's close...what makes her unique was defined in this moment for me:I got to drive with the two of them throughout her session...we were talking about my maddie and being friends with our daughters as they grow up.her maddie leaned over and said sweetly "you're always be my bestie."I looked in my rear-view mirror at them...she said it quickly and sweetly and I saw her mom take it to heart and I believed her.she treats her parents the way she is treated...with love, with laughter, with wit + humor, with determinationand with a whole lot of faithfulness...it gives me something to look forward with my maddie...and to work at in loving and raising her. :)maddie, you are a crazy cool, unique + beautiful girl that it's been a pleasure getting to know...I can't wait to hear how alabama treats you!
