it's not a secret that I love quotes.if you follow me on pinterest, I have an entire board dedicated to them...or rather "words that grow my mind".and I 100% think that words have the ability to do just that...grow your mind.gear shift with me for a second into a look behind the scenes of elizabeth and I's professional relationshipand what it takes to be visual storyteller's from two different states:before every single wedding elizabeth and I shoot together,we take the time to tell each other a little bit about the couple we'll be shooting for the day.usually whoever's client it is in that state,we've had at least a few meetings with the bride and groom prior to their wedding day,and hopefully an afternoon with the couple spent taking engagement photos...so when elizabeth and I brief each other on the couple,we have a bit of a feel for who they are and a little more knowledge into their love story.and in listening to elizabeth tell the story of this couple,it made my heart squeeze a little bit when I think of them and recount photographing their day...I told you I love quotes, and there is a quote by aristotle that I love:"...the beauty of a wo/man's soul shines out when a wo/man bears with composure one heavy mischanceafter another, not because he/she does not feel them, but because he/she is a wo/man of high and heroic temper."matt, the groom in these photographs, is someone I was proud to have gotten to meet.he is a hard-working police officer who happens to look/sound an awful lot like matthew mcconaughey :)now normally that would have gotten a simple admirable nod from me,but in light of the last few months of sadness that seems ever-present in the news...I look at him with extra-ordinary admiration...his job is so not easy.and I can't thank him and the "men in blue" standing on either side of him in this pictures (no, not intimidating at all)these men and so many like them keep me safe, and more often than not,go un-thanked and under appreciated...and that is admirable.and rori...well, from the moment elizabeth and I walked in - she gave US gifts! (right?!)and was literally excited to have us there next to her the whole day.in photographing all of her amazing details before she walked down the aisle,my heart winced a little bit and yet I smiled when I came tothe carefully laid out photograph of her dad in the single chair right in front of where she would stand and say I do.before the wedding, in telling me their story, elizabeth told me that her dad had passed away a few years earlier.the way she chose to honor him on her wedding day was beautiful and perfect and brought a huge smile to my face.to display that kind of thoughtfulness + reflection, speaks volumes of how amazing of a dad he was to her.the rest of the day was visually saturated with beauty and love and intricate detailsthat made being a part of this extraordinary wedding day so special for me.matt + rori, I wish you a lifetime of happiness together...and admire you both, thank you for allowing me a small part in your day photography your day next to elizabeth!also, to view more and hear a little bit of elizabeth's thoughts from matt + rori's wedding day, head over here!
