the next best thing since sliced bread. ;)
exactly fifty women have purposefully gotten in front of my camera since the beginning of 2014.I should pause for a second to take that in and say thank you.that means a lot to me that you would trust me with your photographs.seriously, wow!but that's not what I'm writing about today...typically, before each session I ask each woman what her favorite body feature is...nine times out of ten you all say it's your eyes...and if I was being honest, it's one of my favorite body parts as well! :)mr. shakespeare got it right when he said:"the eyes are a window to the soul..."sebastian from the little mermaid encouraged ariel to:"bat yur eyes, like dis'..." ;)yup, eyes are a big deal. ;)they are quite possibly the most expressive facial feature to rival the lips,if you're a mom they can speak volumes to your kids without saying a word, they crinkle happily at the corners when someone really laughs, and it's literally one of the first things I notice on my subject as a photographer...I like eyes.so why am I talking about eyes today?because I found a product that you need to know about.I've never been one to push a product just because someone claims it's the next best thing since sliced bread.I don't like multilevel marketing companies because of the pressure you feel.and if it costs a small fortune to buy, you can probably bet that I won't be spending the money to "try" something in the hopes that it might work...I don't like to waste my time or money.knowing all that about me, you should take into consideration that I think I have foundTHE. BEST. MASCARA. out there.big statement, but it's true.I was a TOTAL skeptic at first (sorry debbie!),but my friend and amazing nail technician was the first guinea pig to try itand so I got to see her try it first.she had been getting lash extensions for awhile andI was close to trying those until this product came along.lash extensions seemed a great alternative to false lashes because they looked more natural and stayed on for weeks at a time.only problem with lash extensions is that they glue the extensions to your actual lash...one, if glue gets a smidge in your eye...ouch!I'm all for "beauty is pain." but can you say burning?second problem is they are glue to your actual lash so the opportunity for your actual lash to break or fall out is highly increased...so in the end, lash extensions = not for me.I've tried a numerous different kinds of mascara all claiming:telescopic lashes, voluminous lashes,to clump crush (that sounds intense),to be better than sex...hmmm, nope,to be eye brightening,to be as good as false lashes...all of them honestly were "okay"...they did the job but I've never been "wowed" by any brand.that brings me to false eye lashes.6 out of 10 of my girl clients gets their make-up done before their session...either by a friend or a professional make-up artist (who I LOVE working with!).and typically...lashes are a part of the pre-session make-up application.I think they photograph great EXCEPT for the line right above where your lashes meet the lid.I've worked with about a dozen make-up artists and with the exception of one, I haven't seen the glue line completely disappear and it makes my job as a post-processing photographer just a smidge harder to try and get rid of that line.totally do-able and I totally get that false eye lashes just make you feel prettier so it's in the end...for the day it's worth it...but for everyday wear...that's a lot of work for lashes and in the end, everyone pretty much knows you have fake lashes on.BUT.this new mascara from younique (I know, I never heard of them either until a couple weeks ago)gets rid of the need for anything fake and is super simple to use.it's all natural (which is a big deal for me because I have irritating allergies to almost everything.)and it's super easy to use.simple swipe of the mascara-like gel and then another swipe of the lash fibersand then finally one more swipe of the mascara-like gel and whalla...instant lashes that DON'T burn, fall off, clump or even flake.not kidding, ladies.worth the $29...which I get it, it's not buying a cheap pink tube of mascara.but if you say your best feature is your eyes...THIS totally worth the investment.and to prove my point...a rare "selfie" of me.yup, can't stand selfies (sorry to those of you that love taking them!) :)but me taking a dreaded selfie goes to prove how much I think this mascara is worth it! ;)so there you go.I don't care to make anything off of you buying this mascara.I really don't.I have nothing to gain or lose in telling you this beauty secret.you showing up to your session with killer lashes that are all yours is worth it to me.here's the link to where my friend is selling it on facebook for the next ten days because I think it's worth it.buy some.you'll be glad you did. :)
