gilbert engagement | lane + susanna
I'm finding that the more I meet people and learn pieces of their life stories, that there is such beauty and depth waiting to be found in what the world would say are the "quiet ones".let me explain.in my opinion, the world says beauty is primarily found in the strong...in the elusive magazine-like shape/size...in the dominant, loud and out-spoken...in the sexually experienced.bold run-on statement, I know...but I think that some beauty can be found in pieces of that, but not all of that statement.*enter today's bride-to-be, susanna*I hadn't know much of her personally previously to this session.I've know OF her but not had the opportunity to sit down and talk for a length of time.this is how I've found her to be after my session with her and her love:in my eyes, she is exceedingly intelligent...when we met for the first half of her engagement session I was genuinely interested in what she does for a living...she's a mechanical engineer.she is hired to think and analyze how things work and how she can make them better.she was describing to me (because I pressed and wanted to hear her explain) a project she was working on that she was frustrated with...as she explained the intricacies of what she was working on, I found myself distracted with how unbelievably intelligent she was.you might be laughing at my distraction, but it's true.educated, poised, able to problem solve and create solutions on a large scale...I can't even begin to understand how she thinks - that is not anything I possess in my wheel-house. ;)the distraction continued as she talked about her work.I noticed how stunningly beautiful she was...I don't think she knows quite fully.thankfully, I'm pretty sure lane has a pretty good gauge on that... ;)her sister (who happens to be a most talented make-up artist!) enhanced her already beautiful eyes and lips...but her freckles are all her own and told stories of too much fun in the sun with her family and friends...all of that combined with her crazy beautiful natural curls finally led my distractionto where I couldn't help imagine her as a super hero.yup, I know you just unattractively snort-laughed at that if you've read this far,but it's true. :)you know jean gray from x-men who has the incredible brain and is smokin' hot?yup, in my mind, that's susanna. :)but that depth I was talking about up there in the second line of what is ending up being a seriously unintentional long blog post about this couple in love?well, when I thought of susanna and her super-hero-ness, this verse echoed in my head as well:"...let your beauty be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit.."lane?you have lucked out, my friend.not only are you handsome, equally as intelligent, unique and have a seriously cool motorcycle ;)but you have found a treasure in susanna.and not a treasure that the world says is worth seeking, one that He says is.whatever beauty she has now (and it's a lot) will only grow more beautiful because of her heart beauty.high five to you, lane. high five to you. :)lane and susanna?! I can.not. WAIT to get to photograph more of your story in April when you say I do for life!MUCH love to you both and thank you for the two-fold engagement journey...I enjoyed it fully! :)
